ic...mind telling me how your teachers do this? And is it effective for you? As in, you think by learning through this way you are learning more than if the teachers have helped and guided you more?Originally posted by turbo_drift:E...

Of cos, good looks are a bonusLast time I liked to admire the pretty teachers in my school as well
(And yes, i am a girl, I just have this knack of admiring girls and their looks)
But what if the teacher is old but experienced, dunno if you have had those before, but somehow you still think their class is very interesting and you can't wait to attend the next lesson?
What's your style of learning? Explain! (Min 100 words)
It would be through the convention teaching method where student are spoon-fed.
Although RP adopted the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method, I still find it very hard for me to change track. Due to lack of exposure to Problem-Based Learning in Secondary School, I find it very hard for me to adapt now. Since I am in RP now, we are taught to be more ‘open’ to other solution as there is no fixed answers here.
In Secondary School, the usual way that I learn is by memorizing, reproducing, understanding and applying what is in the notes.
We need to memorize huge amount of information of syllabus BUT not without borders. There is a fixed syllabus for every subject. Those syllabuses are in the SEAB websites.
Understanding, Applying and Memorizing
The normal day in my Secondary School (for Science and Mathematics) starts with my teacher explaining to us what we should know by the end of a particular chapter. Next, my teacher will teach us the steps, followed by how to apply the formula. We will then do some example questions with the class and we make sure everyone know how to do that question. Students are also encouraged to ask questions to clarify their doubts.
After school, I will have private remedial with friends who are weaker in the subject. I will use the knowledge that I have gain earlier to help them to learn. Setting mock papers and teaching my friends are what I usually do after school. The sense of satisfaction when someone really understands what you taught is great. Teaching not only benefits them but also benefits me too. One of my most respected teachers told me that when I teach, I would reinforce what I had learned.
Reproducing
When we are sitting for a test or an exam, we will be reproducing what we had leant. What we had leant is through building up of Understanding, Applying and Memorizing of the content.
Learning is not something that can be defined using ‘style’. Ultimately, learning is the act or process of acquiring (deep or surface) knowledge.
haha yea true. But it is not easy to be humorous in class. Imagine telling a joke and nobody laughs. Happened to me before, but I am getting better at itOriginally posted by Ah Cek:personally, i dun prefer strict teachers.
rather, those humorous and able to relate his personal experiences to the subjects are much preferred.
Firstly, my teachers/lecturers guide/teach us on how this program works or how is this done and taught us some knowledge from the program..Originally posted by rainee:ic...mind telling me how your teachers do this? Cos the feedback I get from my students when I let them do stuff on their own is that they will feel like they are struggling and drowning on their own![]()
Thanks...very insightfulOriginally posted by Darkness_hacker99:This is one of my assignment.

For me, I tend to do my lessons through rote learning. But as my students now are also working, I try to minimize their workload. So they have to do a lot of practice questions during their tutorials...most of the time I let them attempt the past year questions.
However the management complained that I have been spoon-feeding my students![]()

English (I am in charge of the IELTS program), and also some Business subjects (introductory diploma courses)Originally posted by Ah Cek:btw teacher rainee, what subjects you are teaching?
Yea, they said I am pampering the students too much because I give them too much guidance. They said I should just teach a little bit then let them figure out the rest by themselvesOriginally posted by Darkness_hacker99:![]()
Your management not happy about spoon-feeding method?

ic...thanks for sharingOriginally posted by turbo_drift:Firstly, my teachers/lecturers guide/teach us on how this program works or how is this done and taught us some knowledge from the program..
Aftermath, we are on our own.. Of course u dun expect us to know everything right? All we need is to ask the teachers/lecturers to give us some hint..
I dun usually take out the books to do or do the programmings, but after i joined ite, at least i can do is when i'm free, i will do those programmings..
Than from there, we might trigger a little and uhuh, it works..
The above ones works for me la.. Dunno suits ur students or not, i dunno..
Btw, let them do some extra assignments to do besides the one found in their books..
P.S: extra assignments means gave them something that u seldom/never taught them before.. Let them try first, after a lengthy time, give them the answer.. And make sure they revise that again and again via ur lesson..
Of course, along the way, u may want to guide them if possible..
Cheers..
